On Friday March 13th starting at 11AM, our cloud engineering team will perform emergency maintenance to replace a network switch. As the growth of DreamCompute has accelerated, this piece of network gear cannot handle the capacity requirements and will be replaced with beefier hardware. This fix is very likely to resolve the longstanding issue of intermittently slow IPv6 connectivity (commonly seen on apt and yum updates).
We do expect network connectivity to your instances to be temporarily unavailable for a short period of time during the maintenance window.
We will closely monitor the maintenance and will be posting periodic updates. This maintenance only affects DreamCompute.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact support for assistance.
Be sure to follow the DreamHost Status blog for updates!
Update: The team replaced the switch and there was only a few seconds of network connectivity loss. We have seen much faster speeds in testing so please let us know if you experience any issues.
