Drupal Install Failure

I’m having trouble installing Drupal 7 via ftp.

I had to recreate the public_html file because I couldn’t find it. I set the permissions to 755.

I then uploaded Drupal to /public_html. Whenever I try to check out the website, I just get the Dreamhost “This user has not uploaded their site yet” message.

Am I missing something here? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You’re uploading your files to the wrong place. Assuming you’ve got a fully hosted domain set up, there should be a folder under your FTP user with the same name as your domain — that’s where the Drupal files belong.

Thanks! That worked perfectly.

… only I’m experiencing a different problem now. After inputting my database name, username, and password, I get this message:

“QLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock’ (2).”

I’ve checked, and it seems that I do have my database setup properly. Any clue as to why I’m seeing this message?

You didn’t set a database hostname, or set it in the wrong place.
