Dreamhost is caching quickstart page

#1

Hi,

I have hosted two sub-domains using my dreamhost admin panel 3days back and it was showing some quickstart message like ‘teresa.followinstinct.com Coming Soon!’. Yesterday I tried to install Joomla, so I unpacked the Joomla installation package and tried to access the url http://www.teresa.followinstinct.com/ but getting the same quickstart message. I have tired clearing my browser cache but still no use.

I’m not able to access http://www.teresa.followinstinct.com/INSTALL.php (getting 404 error) even though the fille INSTALL.php exists in teresa.followinstinct.com directory in server file system.

Here are these two domains
http://www.teresa.followinstinct.com/
http://www.newschool.followinstinct.com/

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

DreamHost doesn’t cache pages. The quickstart page is called quickstart.html. You should be able to find that file somewhere. When you find that file, that is where your Joomla installation belongs. And then delete quickstart.html.

I forgot to mention that I have already deleted the quickstart.html from the folder where teresa.followinstinct.com points to.

I’ve only seen something like this happen when they’ve moved your account to a different server and you end up with parallel directories. Did you FTP to teresa.followinstinct.com when you did the upload? Or did you FTP to a specific machinename.dreamhost.com?

Support can track this down much quicker than the rest of us. Have you submitted a ticket?

Thank you for your reply. I have not used FTP, I have logged in using SSH and downloaded the joomla package.

I have not submitted any tickets yet. I do not know where to send, please could send me the link where I can submit a ticket? Thank you once again.

Same question for SSH. Did you SSH into teresa.followinstinct.com or to a machinename.dreamhost.com.

There are two methods for contact:
https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=support.msg& (best method)
http://www.dreamhost.com/contact.cgi (backup method)

I figured out the problem. Your first suggestion worked out. I was working on a wrong directory, the domain points to a directory in different user.
