DNS Record Question

#1

Currently I have a couple A records and a CNAME set up to point to other services like my online shop.

For example, CNAME “shop” is http://shop.evrtstudio.com

If I want to set up another DNS record but use it for a page hosted by DreamHost, how would I go about that.

In other words, I want the page http://info.evrtstudio.com to be my about page, instead of the traditional sub directory version of http://www.evrtstudio.com/info

Is that possible, or should I be using some form of remapping instead?

Thanks

I think you could just add info.evrtstudio.com as a subdomain in the control panel, and have it point to the directory in question. Then DH will do all the DNS for you.

Hmm… That would definitely be easy and simple. The problem I’m running into is a CNAME will not allow me to put a forward slash in the value box. And a simple redirect or re-map doesn’t seem to work.

I can’t see this CNAME record.

But you should not setup a forward, but just normal webhosting, where you can set the directory /home/yourusername/evrtstudio.com/info
