Did you browse to the “feedback form”, and fill it out?

I think it’s highly unlikely you’ll have success trying to contact them via email. If you still have access to the Control Panel with your WebID, you should contact them via the Support–>Contact Support section of the Control Panel.

If not, I suggest you attempt to reach them via the main Dreamhost.com site’s contact form.

What was going on at your site?

If it was permanently disabled, rather than just having you remove a problem file or two… it would give me the impression that just about everything on the site was a problem. Unless you had a long history of being told to remove stuff, rather than monitor it yourself and keep it within the TOS.

Examples: your average mp3 site, pirated software, porn site that just copied images/videos from other sites, etc…

Thanks rlparker,
I had try, but no response :frowning:

As I say below, nothing information about the parmanently disabled, I just receive only email from DH, nothing else and I don’t know why.

#6

Then the only other thing I could suggest it that you try particular email addresses that may be related to your issue(s):

Spam / Abuse - abuse@dreamhost.com

DMCA Issues - jeff@dreamhost.com

I did it, thanks rlparker.

That’s why I was asking what your site was about, to see if that would explain why it was disabled. What was on your site?

I have many sites in my account.
And just use open source software for it (Wordpress, Joomla, phpBB) and nothing ingringed copyright.
If I have, DH must tell me what, but DH didn’t.

Since this occurred 2 months ago, it seems odd that it has taken you so long to take steps to rectify the situation.

True, but it’s a refreshing change from the “I contacted DH 4 minutes ago and still haven’t heard back from them!” posts.

I mean what was the content? Having a phpBB forum is okay, but if all the threads are full of download links for pirated software, mp3s, etc… it’s a problem.

It’s not so much the scripts you run on the site–it’s the content that matters, whether it’s put there by you or other users.

Let me word it this way: Why would a person have gone to your websites? What was it that was attracting visitors?

Also, just in case you’re outside of the US, remember that US law applies to the servers no matter where you’re located.

That’s another reason why someone might be able to point out where things went wrong, if you list the actual content of the sites… but I’m sure you’ll eventually get the answer from DH, explaining it in better detail.

Thanks seiler,
I’m not sure about my content.
But my problem is that I can’t contact DH.
Has any member of DH support team in this discussion board?

#14

Eh? You must know what your websites were about. That’s all he’s asking. For example, one of my sites is a personal blog and another is a web design business.

I have the same problem. My account is disabled and I have received a similar message I submitted a support request with my webid and it has been almost 6 days now and no reply. I host a number of websites on that account.

DH members to occasionally post here, but it’s not really something you can count on as an official way to contact them. You’d probably be most likely to see Dallas or Michael, if anyone.

Note that it could take awhile to get back to you because it’s not a priority compared to handling current customer issues, spam, etc.

If you mean that you’re not sure if the content was legal or not, that usually means it’s not.

If you mean you’re not sure of what the content was, because the sites were abandoned, then that probably means the active users were using your sites for doing bad stuff–knowing that you would lose your account, rather than them losing their own.

Either of those cases would be hard to fight, if one applies to you, but it can’t hurt to explain yourself and see if they’ll give you another chance.

If it’s the second one, here’s a tip: If you’re going to abandon sites–password protect the entire domain and block all traffic. Abandonment = outdated vulnerable scripts = exploits that will go unnoticed by you = email from DH letting you know your account is done.

In that case, someone could have turned your site into a download site and uploaded all of their pirated stuff to share with the world.
