Disable Directory Access

Hi All,

I’ve installed a Word Press blog on my domain and I have noticed two problems:

  1. I have learned that Google spiders pick up many files and directories I don’t want to be listed in the search engines. Therefore, I would like to remove them from the search engine listings. How do I do that?

  2. I have learned that my directories can be accessible to the public. What can I do to disable directory access? I know that it has to do with creating “.htaccess” file, however, I don’t know how to do that.

Could you please assist me with these issues? Does creating “.htaccess” file affect the blog functionality?
