Did the api.dreamhost.com certificate expire yesterday

and if so, how come nobody has complained so far?


SSL and security and all that junk isn’t a big concern at DreamHost.

If someone sets up a fund to help pay the $5 for a new certificate I’ll pledge a dollar :slight_smile:

Well here’s a question:

When the api.dreamhost.com certificate expired, some of my cron jobs stopped working. This was quite annoying. To get them working again, I had to edit some scripts, replacing ‘curl’ by ‘curl -k’ in several places.

Should I revert the edits when you renew the certificate, or would it be better to keep the edits so as to reduce the risk of further annoyance next time the certificate expires?

Great question! I consulted with my lead to make sure. It’s kinda hard for us to say for sure. That -k just allows curl to perform insecure SSL connections and transfers so if you want it to be able to do that it should be fine, and you shouldn’t have to edit it again. The -k just forces it to connect whether it’s renewed or not. If it’s expired, it uses an insecure connection so unless your stuff absolutely has to have a secure connection it’s fine to leave the -k in there.

hi. would the effect PayPal Pro 2.0 sales? our site won’t take paypal pro 2 orders anymore…but it does take paypal standard. i’m not a programmer but my programming team is trying to figure this out. i’m just collecting as much info as i can. thanks!

No, the DreamHost API is not related to PayPal at all.
