CVS Tutorial Please?

#1

I would like to set up a CVS for use with Zend Studio. Would someone post a step-by-step list on how to accomplish this, if only the DreamHost-specific stuff? I think I can figure out how to configure Zend once I complete the DreamHost side of things.

Just so everyone knows, I looked for a beginner’s article on how to do this, but all I found were posts that refered to non-existant KBase articles.

I cannot tell you how frustrating that is! Please advise! Thanks.

My best CVS advice is to use Subversion instead. Really, Subversion was created to fix all the things that are wrong with CVS. While Dreamhost doesn’t officially support it, it is available.

You can find the complete text of O’Reilly’s Version Control with Subversion online for your reading or downloading pleasure.

If you want useful replies, ask smart questions.

On the other hand, if you are just interested in using the CVS support in Zend (Does it support SVN? I can’t remember)… don’t stress, CVS is perfectly functional.

Millions of lines of code have been successfully managed with it
