I need help installing SquirrelMail.
It tells me…
Error opening …/data/default_pref
Could not create initial preference file!
/var/local/squirrelmail/data/ should be writable by user xorakjoken

You’ll never be able to write to /var, since that’s a server resource.
Something in your config file is set to install in one or more root directories. They should be using /home/xorakjoken for the initial path.

Ok I figured that out. Now my main problem is that i need to run something called config.pl so I went into telnet opened a new connection to my server navigated to it…then I wasnn’t really sure how to run it. What do I type?

type:
perl ./config.pl
.pl is a Perl script, so you need Perl to run it. Just ‘perl’ by itself should work, but its full name is /usr/local/bin/perl
