is down seems to be down. My counters have stopped working, and it doesn’t reply to a ping. I reported it to support…but who wants a counter down for 24 hours?

I wonder if there couldn’t be a special form for just saying - this machine is down, which would get looked at more quickly. If it was a one-line thing, ie you just said the name of the machine, the sysops could tell very quickly if it was a meltdown scenario or just an ordinary problem that could wait for the 180 ahead of it in the queue…
