Chgrp problems

#1

I created a new subdomain today, and assigned it to a user in user in a new group.

Following the wiki, I did the command:

chgrp -R Group_Name /home/UserName

But I am getting “Operation not permitted”. I did some searching and saw some information on chown to get ownership, so Im not too sure if that’s my problem, or my own naiveness on SSH

It won’t let you change the group on the logs directory. I suggest you try chgrp (without the -R) on /home/UserName, then go in and chgrp -R on the remaining files and directories.

I also think you have to do this as that new user, and not as yourself.
