Check HTML

I wrote some basic code for a “quiz” to post on my website in HTML (“Are you an A person or a B person?”). It’s just like a decision tree, using response = prompt (“Y or N”); and alert type stuff.

However, now it won’t run, and I check the error console when I test it in firefox, but it only tells me Syntax Error, and I don’t know how to fix it!

Does anyone know of a free program to help me out? I’m new to code writing, but I didn’t think this was too complicated, minus all the brackets.

Thanks!!

I don’t think a “program” is likely to help you with that, but if you point us to a url with your code, or include the code here, someone may be able to provide some help.

Unless you have some knowledge of javascript, you are probably better off learning to “walk” before trying to “run.” One good way to do this is to look at other peoples’ code and try to understand how and why it works (or doesn’t work) before trying to write your own code.

This can be very helpful when enbracing a technology that is new to you. For instance, you might want to take a look at an example working “quiz” program written in javascript (and maybe even incorporating it into a “test” page to see how it works); it might help a lot:

just checked your site and the quiz seems to be working (latest firefox on winxp), glad you got that fixed

(although I might add that the questions were rather strange, hehehe)
