Changed Site URL, Cannot Login Anymore

#1

I made the most genius move of all beginners and changed my “Site Address” to something different than my “WordPress Address”…and now I can’t access my site.

I changed one of the fields to NOT have the “/wordpress” extension. I had no clue it was going to do this. And by the time I realized what I had done, it was too late. I couldn’t change it back.

I get a “Too many redirects” error message when trying to open “www.mywebsite.com/wordpress/wp-login.php”.

And now, I can no longer access the site thru my WP Dashboard. Nor can I log in to the DreamHost Panel.

Since my site is so new, I haven’t set up FTP access yet. I was reading that was a way to correct it, but I can’t go that route.

Any alternatives on what I can do here? I’ve been reading thru here for an hour or so and haven’t really found an answer.

Thanks.

This article is helpful if you run across this same issue:

https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL

So I was FINALLY able to fix my site thru the FTP client. It took forever and I hope no one else ever has to go thru that like I did. BUT, in case you do, once you log in to the FTP folders the file path to find the “Functions, php” file that is referenced in the article above is this:

http://YOURWEBSITE.com/home/YOURUSERNAME/YOURWEBSITE.com/wp-content/themes/YOURACTIVETHEME/functions.php

And you can just follow the steps in the article.

Thanks. I had a similar issue at some point with my contractor site. It took me forever to figure out.
