Can't send e-mail

#1

I can’t seem to SEND e-mails through my .com e-mail address but I can receive them. Is there anything I can do about this?

I get this message:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject ‘Re: woo-hoo!’, Account: ‘Precious Pet Pastries’, Server: ‘mail.preciouspetpastries.com’, Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

the connection settings are as follows:

POP3
Incoming Mail: mail.preciouspetpastries.com
Outgoing Mail: mail.preciouspetpastries.com

That is how I was told to set it up. I’m using Windows Mail.

The very first thing to try in cases like this is to set your outgoing SMTP port to port 587. This often solves the problem as many (now, maybe even most) ISP’s are blocking port 25.

If that doesn’t work, submit a support request via the DreamHost account control panel, and provide as much information as you can. The tech support staff will endeavor to give you further help.

Thanks. I tried to change it and it did nothing. I still got an error.

I opened a request for the same reason as you with nobody from dreamhost contacting me.

When I send email using attachments or specially to one of the users in my same domain, I get a timeout.

tried with port 587, with and without SSL. it does not work.

I am increasingly disgusted with DH support.
