Can't get Panel to work and "bad_httpd_conf"

#1

We run a game server and website. About 2 days ago, around 4am EST both the site and the fast download server went down. Nobody can connect to the FTP and we get the error “bad_httpd_conf” at the website.

We finally got the Dreamhosters panel info from a guy in China that had it but none of us can log in. We put the info in, and hit login, but nothing happens - I have tried 2 browsers on one computer and one on another making sure cookies and javascript was on. 2 Other guys have tired from different computers, and they get the same thing.

We can’t try the bad_httpd_conf" Fixes given to us on the wiki and we cant contact tech support because we can’t get into the control panel - does anybody have any suggestions?

Thank you so much for your help. Our website is www.bunchofwankers.com, you can contact me via email or YIM at scobysnax_76@yahoo.com or on YIM at the same name. We are all at a loss here.

Edit: Is there any chance the account has been canceled for TOS violations?

You can also contact them here: http://www.dreamhost.com/contact.cgi

:stuck_out_tongue: Save up to $96 at Dreamhost with ALMOST97 promo code (I get $1).
Or save $97 with THEFULL97.

Yes, there is a chance it could have been. I am the person responsible for all the sites content, I took over recently and have made many changes to the site.

I was never given any TOS by the guy who purchased this hosting stuff. Also, my email is not connected to the account so if there were any violation warnings, I would have not seen them.

Lets say for the sake of argument that it was a TOS violation, do you think dreamhosters allow us to rectify the situation and continue our service with them? Will they have the information about what exactly the problem was? I don’t know what the issue was.

The site was not being worked on at the time, so I don’t think it was on our end. The mysql link still works though and our database is intact. I went ahead and contacted dreamhost with the link you gave me, I hope we can get this issue resolved as soon as possible.

The site went dead due to non-payment. you’ll need to pay to get things working again. support, which i see you already contacted, will be able to help you with that.

Well that is outstanding news! Thank you so much for your prompt reply.

Our management team has horrible communication lol.

Well, Jose contacted me and said to log in and pay. We can not log in. When we enter our name and pw and click login, nothing happens.

When I enter the wrong Username, I get a wrong name message, but with the proper username and PW, - nothing happens… its weird.

I have cookies and Javascript enabled, and nobody who has the info is able to log in - i have tried on 3 different browsers and 2 different computers.

We would love to pay =)

Not sure why you can’t get into the panel. You should be able to reply to the message you got from support and ask them for help.

Perhaps someone mentioned this already, but you’re not allowed to run persistent processes on shared hosting. 99.9% of the time a ‘server’ is a persistent process. You can find the TOS at http://dreamhost.com/tos.html.

I’ve just sent a tech support email to the account on file with instructions for how to clear out cookies and cache and login to your account and/or reset your password if necessary. Let me know if you need more help!
