Can't download a file through http

#1

i uploaded a file in ftp, and tried to download it through my IE and it gave me a 403 Forbidden error… why? is there a file size limit in dreamhost?

#2

No, there’s no real limit. How big is the file? Is it in a protected directory? Can you download another file in the same directory?

#3

yes i can dl other files fine
the file size is about 2.5 gig, it was just a test.

#4

Is the file in the same location as others that you can download?

I stand somewhat corrected. Apache doesn’t handle large file support by default until 2.2, and they seem to be only running 2.0.63 here. sigh

so i guess there is no quick solution :frowning:
dreamhost needs to udpate the apache for sure

I’m a bit surprised this didn’t work, though. I believe there is a way to configure Apache so that works, and I’ve not heard of anybody else with this problem.

It’s still good practice to split large files.
