Cannot SSH

#1

Hi Guys and Gals,
I’m suddenly unable to use SSH.
I can still use telnet but it’s not reliable or secure so am loathe to use it.

Am using putty on windows, and am getting ‘server unexpectely closed network connection’.

Any ideas anyone?

I have the exact same problem - seems to have started Feb 4th. I have an rsync job that runs twice a day and that’s when it started failing - a manual ssh attempt to either of my two host machines (my domains are spread over two different machines) gives:

ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host

I contacted support about this, and was told that my IP (dynamicaly assigned) had been blacklisted.
It was then whitelisted.

Yup, me too. Apparently I’d had too many ssh failures.

However I have a script that runs twice a day and I was noticing before the blacklisting that it would fail sporadically and report a security error for no apparent reason. I reckon those were confused by DH as hack attempts.

Anyway I’ve been delisted, they told me I may be relisted in the future - I assume its an automatic process. Hopefully I can figure out what the sporadic failures were being caused by.
