Cannot get site to upload, please help!

#1

This is incredibly frustrating, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I created a site in dreamweaver that is 26mb. Reading the archives it seems the max upload size is 7mb with the supplied ftp client?

I am brand new to all of this so completely clueless. I did zip the site but that did not reduce file size much. With 130 files and several pages linked together in dreamweaver, uploading files one by one is not an option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I’m not an expert but I think what you do is:

  • do not zip it, but have it all as separate files on your hard disk, arranged as you want;

  • starting from the root directory of your website image on your local machine, do:

  • psftp mydomain.com and supply user name and password

  • cd mydomain.com

  • mput -r .

  • bye

The “-r” in the last step instructs psftp to upload all subdirectories as well as the current directory.

HTH (hope that helps)

Or, more generally, use a desktop FTP client rather than WebFTP. A list of clients is available at:
