cakePHP installation

software development

I am working on installing cakePHP and I am having some issues. I seem to be doing pretty well, but I have the following error on my phpmyadmin page for the database:

The mbstring PHP extension was not found and you seem to be using a multibyte charset. Without the mbstring extension phpMyAdmin is unable to split strings correctly and it may result in unexpected results.

I have read that I am supposed to add this:

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to access the php.ini that impacts the DH installed phpMyAdmin, if that is what you are trying to use. DreamHost insists that this reported warning is not a problem for their “modified” phpMyAdmin (see previous posts in these forums).

If you are trying to use you own installation of phpMyAdmin, you can manipulate your own domains’ php.ini as discussed in the DreamHost wiki:
