Blog.xxx.com/stats - dead?

Ran the update for the Wordpress and it seams that the stats page has been killed… anyone else run into the same problem?

Thanks in advance…

Do you mean that WP took control of the directory?

Check your .htaccess file.

If you see this:

BEGIN WordPress

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php

END WordPress

And change it to this (notice the added lines in bold):

BEGIN WordPress

Try making it this instead (just add the bold lines):

BEGIN WordPress

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/stats/(.)$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/failed_auth.html$
RewriteRule ^.
$ - [L]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php

END WordPress

If it was working before, you could also copy your old .htaccess file from the .old directory that was created (assuming you used the one-click upgrade).

If you did the one-click upgrade, did you also go to domain.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php? If not, things might be a little screwy.

Also note that if you were using any themes or plugins that you’ll probably have to copy them from the old folder and reactivate them.

Maybe someone will be interested to know that this solution works for Textpattern too…

I did this, then got a 500 internal server error. Any idea why? When I went back to the old .htaccess file, everything was fine again.

I would guess that if you copied/pasted, that something went wrong in the process–maybe a line break character or something.

Try just manually adding those three lines to what’s already there (the bold lines are the only changes), in the same place they’re at in the post.
