Big File Uploads on VPS - anybody got it to run? PHP

#1

Hey there,

the support didn`t want to help me with a custom setup…:wink:

I need to get file uploads up to 500mb to run on my DH Vps system. Things i did till now:

Edit php.ini settings:
max_execution_time = 1000
max_file_uploads = 20
max_input_time = 1000
memory_limit = 256M
post_max_size = 1000M
upload_max_filesize = 1000M

Change tmp directory to another directory (tmp had a 128mb restriction)

I keep getting 500 Internal Server Errors with files above 50-70Mb… Error logs don`t show anything interesting…

What can i do about this?

How are you uploading them? WordPress or Joomla or a special script?

Special Script… But the script didn`t contain anything that can throw the error, so it was some server stuff…

Anyway, just solved the problem with chunked uploads… now there is NO limit…nice…:wink:

Thanks!

PHP and large file uploads have been giving me headaches for the last few months :confused: It throws the stupidest errors like … “I’m just gonna stop working without an error, muahhahhah!”

It’s best to use a CGI script for uploading large files. PHP is never a good option (unless it’s the only option).

Oh I agree. Using PHP for that is like using a hammer to drive in a screw. You can but …
