Basic FTP Question

#1

Hi, I know this is going to sound really straightforward.

I have an ftp account that I’ve been using through jackie.dreamhost.com that I set up ages ago. It has allowed me to transfer files for a project.

However, I would like to set up the/a ftp folder/site that is accessible at a web address so I can upload a video for download for a client and they don’t have to use cyberduck or corelite to access it (and I don’t have to give out my password), I can send them an http address and they can access just that file and download it.

Can someone walk me through the step by step of how to do this?

Thanks!

Do you have a domain registered and hosted here? If not, try:
http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Subdomain
And set up a sub.dreamhosters.com fully hosted domain.

To keep it away from prying eyes, password protect the (root) directory:
http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Password-protecting_directories

Their file will end up at http://YOURSUB.dreamhoster.com/movie.wmv
