"bash: ulimit" error on login

whenever I telnet into my account lately, I get the following message beneath the last login line:

bash: ulimit: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted

I don’t see any noticeable problems, but anyone know why this is happening?

For some reason, the kernel isn’t letting bash set the limit of processes set for a user.

It looks like the limit is now 4898 instead of 5000 (new kernel, perhaps). Anyway I’ve asked Jason to take a look at this and see what’s going on.

slash: 00:57am# tail -1 /etc/profile
ulimit -u 5000

The error is pretty harmless, though.

FYI: This is resolved and message no longer appearing upon login.
