Banning IPs

#1

is it possible to ban IP’s from visiting/viewing your site?? this would be very helpful if its possible. please help!

Indeed it is. You will need a text file in your root directory (the FTP directory that is the same as the name of your website), with a filename of .htaccess that contains the following:

deny from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxObviously, you replaces the XXXs with the IP address you wish to ban. The DreamHost wiki has more information on .htaccess, including how to block specific domains, etc.

how do i find the IPs that visit/viewed my site though? is it in the same file?

You will need to look in your access logs. Open up your FTP client and connect to the web server. You will find a folder called “logs”. The logs files are within that part of the folder structure.
