I’m finding dreamhost’s backup policy somewhat lacking, especially with the 4GB limit. They say they do backups, but they don’t say how often and they make a point of not guaranteeing anything. Then if you want to use their account back up feature they advise that databases and users > 4GB are not backed up.

Their suggestion is that you have to figure out your own remote procedure using, say rsync, etc.

OK, sure, but the reason I’m PAYING for hosting, and perhaps dedicated services is to relieve my staff of these issues. Which are solved, for instance at amazonaws.

I’m failing to see the value proposition for hosting my business at dream host versus say, amazonaws.

How are others dealing with this?
