Authentication Software

#1

Hi,
I would like to issue a username and password to members who I invite to view my site. Do you buy software for this type of Authentication page? Which software product is good?
Thanks for the help,
Bob

You can use the .htaccess feature via the DreamHost Control Panel here.

Pick the domain you require and select which folder to secure. If you leave the box empty it will apply to the whole site. You can change the realm name from Members Area if you wish and then input the username/password pairs you wish to use for each visitor.

Do not forget to click the correct box to ‘password protect the folder’!

Norm…Thanks!

Simon Jessey, Thanks for your guidance. Having been a member of many forums I find your advice correct. However being brand new to this forum and thinking I made a mistake on placing my first post, I selected a better alternative. I promise I will never, ever do it again…for you.
