Apache internal dummy connection going crazy?

Hello everybody.

According to my Google Analytics my site has about 1,850 pageviews per day on average since the 1st of March. Dreamhost’s server logs (using Analog 6.0) claim there were 36,000 requests for pages however.

Now, I’m pretty sure that I have some pages that load 2 page requests due to some weird WordPress plugin, but that would only cut that number in half.

18,000 pageviews per day versus 1,850 pageviews a day, that difference is way too large, so now I don’t know which statistics to trust.

I did find an enormous amount of Apache “internal dummy connections” in the “browser report” section of Analog. I don’t know what it means or does (I did Google a bit but I’m certainly no Apache expert), but I think it’s safe to say this is not my visitors looking at the site.

Is there a way for me to see more accurate server logs? I want to see how well Google Analytics tracks my WordPress blog versus the server logs.

Many thanks in advance.
