Anyone using Mason?

I’m interested in using Perl’s HTML::Mason on some sites. I haven’t figured out how to use it other than using it in a perl script. Seems like I can just embed the mason tags in an html file and Apache should interpret it - provided Apache is set up to do this.

If any of you have had experience with this, can you give me some insight?

Also, do we have access to the httpd.conf files running our sites? I am on a shared plan, not a dedicated box.

Most of the documentation you’ll find has HTML::Mason running with mod_perl. We use Mason and Mod_perl at work, and it is sweet.

I am still working on how to use it as a CGI.
Looks like they have upgraded the version since I last tried it.

Yes, it would be nice to use Mason, but unfortunately, I don’t believe mod_perl is installed on shared boxes (which would be required).

This is an old thread, but here is the link to documentation for running Mason under CGI (as well as an explanation why mod_perl is a problem in shared hosting environments. I’m just looking into it now, doesn’t look easy to run on a shared server.
