Any news on .FAM Top Level Domain?

#1

I would really like to start a family website, but my name is also the same shared by a major corporation, so all of the desirable variations on the name have been reserved already.

The inclusion of the .FAM top level domain would certainly resolve this problem.

Does anyone know when this TLD might be opened-up?

Well according to this blog , that was the date!

And, it looks as if ICANN are still thinking about it.

You can get a .fam.pk domain from PKNIC in Pakistan for 2000 PKR (30.96 US$)

You may just have to settle for a different domain that reflects your family name in some way.

Such as:-

elrendhel.net
elrendhel.info
elrendhel.mobi
elrendhel.eu
elrendhel.asia
elrendhel.org
elrendhel.biz
elrendhel.tv
elrendhel.nu
elrendhel.nl
elrendhel.it

and so on …

Then add a few words to the name …

Myelrendhel
PasoRendHeL
Theelrendhel
Webelrendhel
elrendhelOnline

Although sometimes a search engine can throw up some odd ones …

RailwayRendHeL
ElRiveHeL
AltitudeRendHeL
AltPullHeL
ElBustHeL

I’m guessing that Elrendhel isn’t the family name he was after. Don’t forget about .us, which I’ve used in some cases.

I did run it through all 65 TLDs but the reply fell off the bottom of the monitor.

There are always the squiggly Arabic-Japanese-Chinese script ones.

Ah! rendhel.com is available I think.

I am not so sure that using your own name is even a good idea these days. Probably best to make up a nonsense word for a domain like … florrip.com … now that just trips off the tongue.

Want to search for something on the Net? Just florrip it!
