Any advantages to 64 bit server

Are there any advantages to being on a 64 bit server?

How do you know whether you are on a 64 bit server or not?

Indirectly, yes. Our non-64-bit servers are all considerably older, so if you’re on a 64-bit server, you’re on relatively recent hardware.

From SSH, “uname -m” will print “x86_64” for 64-bit servers and “i686” for 32-bit servers.

Alternatively, if you signed up anytime in the last year or two, or if you’ve been moved to a newer server in that period, you’re probably on a 64-bit server.

In your case, you’re on lovejoy, which is 32-bit.

I believe that when that day comes when all users are off the old energy-hog servers, they’ll end up on a new 64 bit server. I volunteered for a move 6 or so months ago to get the Unlimited plan, but I was never moved. I did receive the unlimited plan, though.
