Anti-spam policy on outbound email

Several times recently I have been tripped up by the amti spam policy on outbound emails. This has typically been when I’m emailing to a hundred or so BCC recipients, but I’ve had the policy reject absolutely benign emails.
What exactly is the algotithm used? And is there a way I can make it less agressive so I do not (innocently) keep tripping it?
