Another domain issue

#1

this is the second major issue coming up with dreamhost

www. nintenex.com works perfectly fine but nintenex.com is an issue…? the help link told me i had to upload my site onto dreamhost, my website isnt from dreamhost though…

all these complications are stressing me out because im new to this hosting thing and i have no idea what im doing wrong.

after the first major stress of getting my domain on my site i have to deal with this now.

whatever this dreamhost link is doesn’t help me at all! it actually makes me even more confused.

PLEASE someone help me… ugh

EDIT:

Forgot to mention both links work fine on google chrom on any other browser and mobile i get the “YOU NEED TO UPLOAD YOUR SITE” which is really bothering me, i think its slowing down my site alot.

On the “manage domains” page in the dreamhost panel, you must have the domain fully hosted. You need to delete that.

Until you do, I can’t really tell looking at DNS if that will completely solve your www* issue, but right at the moment its doing EXACTLY what you told it to… the non-www domain is forwarding to forumotion.com, the www domain is sending you to hosting on a dreamhost server where no site has yet been uploaded/installed. At any rate get the “fully hosted” entry deleted and give it 12 hours and if you’re still having www. problems post back and we can take another look.

You seem very confused on this because, I already told you to delete that hosting in post#6 of this thread: https://discussion.dreamhost.com/thread-146796.html

i wasnt sure at first how to delete that so i scrolled all the way to the bottom and clicked DNS only in the edit field, it seems to have got rid of the “fully hosted” i think.

Its still not wanting to work after trying to fix it, what coupld possibly be the issue?

im getting this from firefox

"The page isn’t redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies."

and this from google chrome.
This webpage has a redirect loop

ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS
ReloadHide details
The webpage at http://www.nintenex.com/ has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

Looking at https://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/www.nintenex.com and https://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/nintenex.com is VERY interesting.

Non-www has no dns.

www has … six.

But looking at your DNS I see you’ve got www as a CNAME to a forumotion.com site. If you want that for non-www then you need to set it up for that as well.

Step back for a second. What do you want? Do you want DNS only where your http domain points to forumotion but mail and such does not?

There are two threads, the other is https://discussion.dreamhost.com/thread-146796.html

essentially the request is make the domain name a private domain name for the forumotion forum, for both the raw domain, and the www.

I linked forumotions terrible documention in the other thread.

the confusing answer on the www. —six— was what prompted me to ask for the screenshot toward the end of the other thread.

DNS isn’t an instant change, and it seems like too many things are in motion… every time I look up the DNS I don’t understand how we got from the last check to the new one. But I can’t see how the panel’s set at that point either.

He also had the domain fully hosted at one point in this as well, and where the custom A record came from that points back to a dreamhost apache instance is beyond me.

Yikes. Thanks. I’m closing this thread so we keep it all where you seem to have saved the day.
