Am I "safe"? (early June hack)

I’ve been pretty much allergic to any web maintenance for the last month so this is late, but still legitimate, I think.

From what I gather, Dreamhost sent e-mail announcements to those who hot hacked. Can I be fairly certain about that and, if not, what should I look for and where?

What sort of links/strings and in what files?

The most obvious signed of being hacked is that there will be hidden spam links on your home page. Browse to your page and view the source. Everyone who could have been (or was) hacked received an email from DreamHost.

Thanks! That should take care of this.

There are a couple blog posts discussing the issue. Apparently a few user’s passwords had been snagged while they were using FTP. They are recommending alternatives.
