Adding favicon to MediaWiki

apps

#1

Instructions for setting up a favicon for MediaWiki are here, but I can’t get them to work.

My DreamHost wiki is at ghanawiki.info. I’ve created a favicon.ico file and uploaded it to my DreamHost account under the ghanawiki.info/ directory (that’s the webroot). I’ve also added the following entry to LocalSettings.php:

$wgFavicon = “/favicon.ico”;

However, none of these changes causes the favicon to appear in the address bar. Also, if I visit http://ghanawiki.info/favicon.ico, I get a MediaWiki page saying “There is currently no text in this page”.

Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong? Thanks.

Yeah, you left RewriteRule .*\.ico$ - [L] out of your .htaccess file

Thanks, but it didn’t seem to have any effect. Here’s what my htaccess looks like now:

first, enable the processing - Unless your ISP has it enabled

already. That might cause weird errors.

RewriteEngine on

test if rewrite should stop for

special directories

RewriteRule ^(images|skins)/ - [L]

all php scripts.

RewriteRule .*.php$ - [L]

uncomment this rule if you want Apache to redirect from www.mysite.com/ to

www.mysite.com/wain_Page

RewriteRuin_Page [R]

#RewriteRule ^/$ /wiki [R]

do the rewrite

#RewriteRule ^wiki/?(.)$ /index.php?title=$1 [L,QSA]
RewriteRule ^/?(.
)$ /index.php?title=$1 [L,QSA]

RewriteRule .*.ico$ - [L]

Oops, never mind. Order is important. I simply put the rewrite rule before the WikiMedia rule, and all was fine. Thanks!
