Accessing MySQL Database on Expired Domain

#1

So I recently had a domain that was registered via a third party registrar lapse. I was without internet when it happened, so got home only to realize it. I want to try and backup the Wordpress installations on that domain. I’m able to backup the files via FTP, but I also need to export the databases, however as far as I’m aware, there’s no way of doing so via the MySQL control panel, as it’s hosted on the expired domain. Is there a workaround for this?

Add another MySQL hostname through the panel and use that instead. As the panel notes, all hostnames for the same server are interchangeable – databases aren’t linked to specific hostnames.

If you’re accessing temporary, you can check the DNS settings and see what IP was using your mysql hostname. Then you can backup your database, and move from server to server, or you can make a mysql hostname as suggested by Andrew, if you will host the new domain still with dreamhost.
