552 quota exceeded

#1

Good morning,

I am using a FTP client (FileZila) to to transfer a file.

I want to transfer a 14MB file but my quotasize is just 10MB.
When the FTP Client tries to send this file, I think it shouldn´t allow to transfer the file, instead, it keeps sending, but when it come to the end, it starts to send the file all over again. From the beginning!!

How can I handle this?

Thank you very much!

quota size? what? has something changed on dh that i’m unaware of? i’ve uploaded 100MB+ files to my account without issue. if you do actually have some sort of restriction like that, there would not be any way around it. but if its something like a file you want other people to download you could use winrar or winzip to make archives of a smaller size and upload them i guess…also there is always contacting support to see why this server limit is in place.

Hi,
I want to upload this file to a FTP server (PureFTP).

A 14MB file but my quotasize is just 10MB assigned in the server.

It keeps sending, but when it come to the end, it starts to send the file all over again. From the beginning!!

You probably have set that quota in the panel. Check that

#5

Hi Ronthai,

What panel is that?

#6

that’s not something we can set though? at least not on shared hosting. we use to be able to set disk quotas for specific users but dh took that away from us a long time ago. i miss it :frowning:

I am using Filezila as the FTP client…

#8

yes the error you are getting is due to a quota set by the server you are uploading to. to my knowledge you do not have the option of setting a filesize quota like that on shared services. i have looked on my control panel under users and domains and there is no way to set such a thing.i can’t speak about vps or ps though as i have never used that. submit a support ticket.

#9

The only places i know of that quota settings still exist is mail users and anonymous ftp

but really who still uses anonymous ftp?

#10

To whom can I submit a ticket, please? What is vps and ps?

Thank you!

on your control panel at the bottom there is support where you can click to contact support
https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=support.msg&

virtual private server and i meant dedicated server for the other one. you obviously don’t have such services i am guessing.

#13

ok so you are not talking about uploading to your own dreamhost account? if that is the case you need to try contacting whoever owns the ftp server and ask them to increase the filesize limit. there is nothing you will personally be able to do about the restriction. otherwise just do like i said previously and make a spanned archive of the file so you have multiple files to upload that are within the filesize limit. i am sure whoever owns the server will know how to extract it.

#14

No, it´s not the dreamhost account. Well, I connected to the FTP server and changed the quotasize limit, even so the problem still occurs…

#15

i don’t know what to tell you. google about pureftp file size quota or something. i know they have a mailing list you can subscribe to. you may get more input there. does this ftp server belong to you? if you are just a user and not the owner i seriously doubt you would be able to actually change the parameters yourself.

#16

Yes, I own the FTP server. I make changes on it, like the quotasize limit. When I use the Ftp client and try to send a file larger than the quota, it keeps sending, and so far I don´t know why.

Thanks again!
