503 error

#1

Everything on my site is coming up with a 503 error. Even the individual files. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I dont have throttling turned on.
I had this errror this morning:
Site Temporarily Unavailable
We apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact the webmaster/ tech support immediately to have them rectify this.

error id: "bad_httpd_conf"
so I turned off the extra web security and that went away, and I got this 503 error instead. ANy thoughts?

Here is the response that dreamhost support sent me yesterday, its been 31 hours and its still not working though:
I apologize for the problem you are having with your site. I have gone
ahead and pushed an update on our DNS so that your site can work
properly. This will be ready for you shortly. There might be some lag on
the update due to the propagation of DNS. The full propagation can take
anywhere from 2 to 24 hours, all depending on how often other providers
update their DNS. You might also want to clear your cache just to make
sure that you are pulling down fresh information from the server. Again,
I’m sorry for the interruption in service. Please let me know if you have
any other questions.

503 caused by dns propagation? Sounds flimsy to me. (But what do I know, I’m not a DH employee)

Wholly

Yeah, I don’t know enough to know what could actually be wrong, but I’ve lost quite a bit of money because my site has been down for almost two days now
