500 Internal Server Error

The issue is concerned with one of the pages on the site:

The affected page is: http://www.architecturelive.in/browse/viewed

I am getting the following error:

"Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@architecturelive.in and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

DreamHost team was prompt in replying, and their reply was as below:

Thank you for contacting DreamHost Technical Support!

Unfortunately, it seems your scripts have been getting automatically
killed (http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Killed) by our Process Watcher daemon
due to your user over consuming system resources on the shared server. I
also noticed that the server had a little bit higher load than we like,
so I got that taken care of as well on my end.

The Process Watcher daemon keeps the CPU/memory load balanced for all
users on the server and can usually be caused by themes, plugins, or
versions of software that you’re running… among other things as well.

Please be aware that finding your heavy usage and/or optimizing your
software is beyond our scope of support, so you will need to resolve the
issues on your end. I would highly recommend that you follow the steps
in the following wiki articles in order to reduce your usage:

Lastly, you may want to look into Dreamhost VPS
(http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting-vps.html), as you will be able to
raise your memory limits to whatever limit you’d like.

If you have any other questions, please let me know and I’ll be happy to
assist you!

I am still not sure about the error on the page and why only this page is affected. If the problem is with memory usage, entire website would have the problem.

Any help will be appreciated. This is quite urgent.

Thanks in anticipation.

What architecture is your site built with? (Drupal, joomla, django, ruby on rails, bespoke cms?)

Is it possible to view the script or code for the most viewed page, or if you have a developer who made it get him/her to fix it. At a completely uninformed guess I’d say its a problem with the most viewed ranking algorithm, although that should really be a simple database stored value and trivial, other than that it could be a database access problem with that page…

Not much for you to go on, but I hope it helps.

Bro, I’m getting same issue since last week on my phpBB
something change on the servers…

they ask to add the php.ini to increase the time limit, but that are giving me more errors…

I quite agree with @Baz_

Not necessarily. That page is showing “Showing Most Viewed Projects” which (depending on how that page is set up) could be making a lot of calls to a database or a script. That can cause the memory issue for that page only.

BTW, it’s generally considered bad form to mark your threads “urgent”.

There are literally millions of possible error messages. We can’t give you more specifics without knowing what those errors are. You should start your own thread for this, by the way.
