Forwarding pop3 sent mail

I have a site that networks with other non-profit agencies and is involved in community projects.

There's a need for archiving our mail permanently for legal reasons.

I have my panel set to automatically forward a copy of all email 'inbound' to the server to an archive mailbox. My users access their mailboxes through Outlook, Windows Mail, etc.

I've used dreamhost going on two years, but I can't determine if or how to retain a copy of outbound mail of my users.

Any advice?

I've been trying to limit one of my hostings, but I don't know how to do it.
I just can see the storage, but I don't find anything about limiting it on dreamhost control panel.

Does anybody knows how to do it?

Hi,

My old host used entrophy search which was automatically activated from the control panel.

Does dreamhost offer anything like this?

Can you please tell me what are my options for use. preferrably without advertising.

linking new domain to host

Basically what I want to do is link a new domain name I purchased to my hosting account. In the webpanel, there is a link to add hosting to that domain. Well, I already have unlimited traffic and data so I don't need to purchase extra hosting.

My plan is to use the new domain name and not have it redirect to my main URL. Anyway I can keep the new domain in the URL while linking all the files to my hosting account?

Hey everyone,

When I was younger, I used to build websites using html and javascript using free web hosting sites like xplorer, and geocities. I had no problem typing html into the editors to publish my websites.

I am so confused with this Dream Host though. I thought Id try to be professional about it, as I have that earlier experience. But I can even figure out where to type in the html and to start my website....

Can somebody please guide me to begin??? I really thought I had a handle on this, but apparently not!

I have very little experience with hmtl and none with css styles. I have created the following site but have some pretty major issues with my result.
1. images (logo at top and the verticle left bar and the top and bottom image bars, and background) are fixed so if each links page contains more than what fits in the area it shoves the credits at the bottom past the background and shows it repeat instead of readjusting.
2. these images also repeat horizontally.

not sure if im explaining it exactly. but i created it with web expression 2 and it looked great on a 14-15" screen but on 17" or higher it repeats. I would also like to have a frame inside that lets me use the same top,side and bottom instead of editing every page when i add a link which is how i have it now. I know this has nothing to do with dreamhost or its services but thought there might be an easy way to figure it. please see my sig below if any of you have extra time and want to help us out! once i get this i will move on to lookin for help with the search bar.

Installing SimplifyMedia's Rhythmbox

Hi,

I'm trying to install SimplifyMedia's Rhythmbox via ssh on my account (on the clamato machine). If I can get it working, Rhythmbox would let me stream music to other computers and my iPhone. Does anyone have any experience installing this application on a Dreamhost server?

I have the happy free hosting plan for non profits. I just recently uploaded some html files and we moved to dreamhost because of the free hosting didnt require a forum login as X10' free hosting plan did, and also because of the reputation and virtually limitless files and bandwidth. With that said, our goal as a church is to have video sermons on the site from each sunday. I have went through and created a shell of what he are wanting it to look like. The only problem i see is that the swf/flv files are still going to be too large to upload with net2ftp because its limit says 4MB file size and a 30 sec upload time limit. Anyone have suggestions or am i missing something? Also anyone who is more advanced than me which is more than likely everyone is welcome to give advice on design and implementation for our site. Our church members give feedback to me as well but i have to figure it all out and currently their are numerous issues but lets tackle the video problem first.

Hi, I've just added a webcam to my Dreamhost site. It's not a streaming one as Dreamhost does not host streaming services (I believe?) It's a constantly refreshing j.peg.

Will this in any way affect my upload limits?

Do I have upload limits?

Will Dreamhost warn me before slapping other charges on?

WebDAV & Windows 7 help

I need some assistance... I want to set up a Windows drive mapping to a folder on my domain, using WebDAV.

I have successfully (as far as I'm aware) used the panel to set up the htAccess/WebDAV folder (and received the confirmation email), but I can't for the life of me get anything to connect to it.

Windows 7 just complains the folder is not valid.

I've followed the steps on the Wiki, but with no success.

Has anyone else successfully done this?

I'm looking to set cron to execute a simple script everyday and when I use crontab -e it won't save saying that i have no permission. I used to be able to set cronjobs any idea why I can't now?

Google Apps, MX Record change, & discussion lists

Hi,

I've been using dreamhost for our email for 3 years now. We have dozens of email accounts, announcement lists, and discussions lists. I would really like to switch my email over to Google apps.

In the wiki, it says that switching my MX records over the Google will not affect my announcement lists, but there is not mention about whether an MX record change would affect my discussion lists. I assumed that I would have to migrate over all of the email accounts to google.

Will I have to move the discussion lists over to google as well?

Is there a way to keep the discussion lists through mailman and still move our email over to google apps?

I've heard the best way to do the migration is to replicate all my accounts on google ahead of time and then when I switch over, POP from the new google account back to my dreamhost to download the files to the new gmail account before deleting the dreamhost account. Is there a different way I should be doing this?

Hi All,

Ive just been given access to the Control Panel section of my website and need to learn how to use it.

The first thing I really need to do is edit the text on my homepage. I thought this may be straightforward and I would see how to do it as soon as I logged in, but its not as clear as i had hoped. I dont want to mess with it without knowing how to do it incase I wreck something!

Please could someone give me some instructions on how to do this? I would really appreciate it as I dont know how else I am going to figure this out!
